I Am Spartacus

Barry Strauss discusses Spartacus and the great books. Description: The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Study of Core Texts and Ideas invites you to the next lecture in its ongoing series. Barry Strauss, professor of history and classics at Cornell University, presents "Spartacus and the Great Books." Spartacus was a real historical character, leader of ancient history's largest slave revolt, but we remember him for his mythic qualities - from Kirk Douglas's celluloid portrait to Khatchaturian's ballet.
